Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In the month of October Ari Lennox dropped her debut EP Pho. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release new music through the internet including Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. Later that year her music was circulating around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 2016, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream of the album was released on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a an accompanying music video. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On the 13th of November, two brand new singles, titled No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. The track was released with a video on YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times in the first seven days. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December the year 2018.
